Multiple arrested, 13 guns seized after Greektown brawl

The rollback of COVID-19 restrictions and the return of diners and shoppers should be a cause for celebration in the local business community. However, in Detroit’s Greektown, the increase in foot traffic has meant an increase in crime and violence.
Recently, a huge brawl broke out in the neighborhood that overwhelmed police and sent bystanders running.
The skirmish involved dozens of people many of whom allegedly wielded weapons.
A video of the incident posted on social media shows police wrestling with participants and trying to establish a perimeter.

Multiple people were arrested, and 13 guns were confiscated after the situation was brought under control.
The fracas is part of a string of violent incidents that have plagued Detroit in recent weeks terrifying business owners.
“I see it through the windows and watch it with the owners and it makes an unsafe environment for the patrons that come to patronize the business so I just don’t understand it,” said Danny Preston, an event consultant for bar owners. “I don’t know what the answer is necessarily.”
The accused have rights
Being charged with a serious crime is a harrowing experience. You may face prison time and other serious consequences if convicted, not to mention irreparable damage to your reputation.
The circumstances feel even more dire if law enforcement seems disinterested in your side of the story. In fact, you feel like you’ve been labeled guilty before ever appearing in court.
Thankfully, those accused of a crime have rights under Michigan law. An experienced defense attorney can ensure your rights are respected and launch a counter investigation to uncover the facts. Furthermore, they offer candid advice and an empathetic voice throughout the process.
Michigan residents should contact an attorney as soon as possible. The decisions made early on in a criminal case greatly influence the outcome.
